In its fourth calendar year, the PS5 has scored several successes in terms of sales and already has a few games to its credit that have made the most of its hardware. We’re talking about a console that had its best first quarter (from January to March) ever, thanks to the stock recovery we’ve been experiencing for a few months and some significant launches.
There are more and more PS5 consoles in stores, which has made many PS4 users decide to make the jump without having to deal with bots, resellers, waiting lists… This, in the long run, will result in Sony refining a more refined new generation. titles for, slowly leaving behind the PS4, as we have seen with Burning Shores, for example.
It’s still too early to establish the PlayStation 5’s technological ceiling (something we can do with the Nintendo Switch, PS4, or Xbox One), as we’re still in the middle of this generation and the studios still have the devices to get them. Let’s continue to squeeze more out of the hardware.
However, we can highlight some titles that have been able to get the best out of the PS5, either in terms of raw power, or taking advantage of the faster capabilities of the SSD that the machine includes or other qualities.
Other games have also focused on squeezing the haptic functions out of the DualSense controller, as is the case with the great Astro Playroom. See more of what’s already been accomplished with PS VR2 and what’s to come. some titles
Here are 10 games that managed to squeeze the most out of the PlayStation 5 hardware, at least from what we know to date. There are both Sony exclusives as well as cross-platform titles.
10 games that best express the PlayStation 5’s capabilities:
A Plague Tale: Requiem
It may have lost the wow factor from A Plague Tale: Innocence, but this sequel is big, immersive, terrifying, and brilliant. The Asobo title was one of last year’s best, and its underwhelming technical section has a lot to do with it.
On PlayStation 5, A Plague Tale: Requiem unleashes terror on mice at resolutions up to native 4K, and hits 60 FPS performance thanks to a new patch (which adds performance mode). The more difficult and sad a work, the more impressive it is.

god of war ragnarok
Kratos and Atreus had to be here, there’s no doubt about it. The 2018 reboot was already one of the most cutting-edge of the previous generation, but the folks at Sony Santa Monica outdid themselves with God of War Ragnarok. This sequel is more brutal, brutal and powerful thanks to the PS5 hardware.
And beware, it worked great on PS4, but it’s on PlayStation 5 where God of War Ragnarok gets rid of all its shackles. A masterpiece from the catalog of Sony machine, but we are sure that the next God of War will be a true revolution on a technological level.

Horizon: Forbidden West + Burning Edge
Sony’s console already has some impressive titles, but it’s possible that the technological ceiling of the PlayStation 5 (so far) is Burning Shores. Yes, the expansion for Horizon: Forbidden West isn’t quite as big as a full game, but it packs in new visual and technical details so ferociously that they were impossible on the PS4, and that’s why it wasn’t released on the previous console. to console.
If Horizon: Forbidden West was already a great experience on PS5, with Burning Shores we get more detailed settings, “movie” skies, better animations and photorealistic faces and a final enemy that is hard to forget. When it comes to raw power, Guerrilla is one of those studios that can’t be beat.

Similar case to Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Nintendo Switch. Elden Ring may not be the most powerful game on PlayStation 5, but its greatness (in every way) has to be taken into account. Elden Ring is a titanic spirit that seems to have no end.
From your first step into Middle Land, FromSoftware’s work (with Hidetaka Miyazaki and George RR Martin behind it) overwhelms you with endless details. Oh, and forget about tedious loading times, because the SSD that’s included with the PS5 clears them up in a jiffy.

gran turismo 7
The polyphony digital saga has taken a long time to come back. Following the multiplayer experience offered by Gran Turismo Sport, the seventh installment recovers the touch of the single player we love so much … although without forgetting (in the literal sense) the online actions.
Gran Turismo 7 is any motorsport fan’s dream come true. Over 400 cars await you, detailed circuits, vehicle customization, and heart-stopping audio-visual segments. The craziest driving on PS5 is here waiting for you. And if you add driving to the PS VR2, it’s off and running.

Metro Exodus: Complete Edition
Is it possible for previous generation games to flash on PS5? Absolutely. An example of this is Metro Exodus, an excellent shooter from 4A Games that was released in 2019 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Thanks to a thorough next-gen update, this title almost feels next-gen.
And without “almost”. Metro Exodus: Complete Edition impresses you with its 4K graphics, 60 fps performance and ray tracing, and not to mention that many of the textures have been recreated from scratch. A titanic shooter that makes us dream (more than ever) with that fourth game under development by 4A.

The work that distinguished Housemark, a Finnish studio now belonging to PlayStation Studios. Returnal is a challenging science-fiction roguelike, sporting time loops, Metroid-like exploration, and an eerie setting straight out of Alien.
Visually, it’s impressive (especially because of its spooky atmosphere), but where Returnal shines is in its frenetic evolution (thanks to the PS5 SSD) and especially in the sound section. Please, this is one of those games you have to play with headphones, because the 3D audio is outrageous.

Ratchet & Clank: A Dimension Apart
Possibly the first great game of this new generation. Insomniac Games has once again come up with a truly great game, rescuing one of the PlayStation’s iconic franchises with Ratchet & Clank: A Separate Dimension. This is one of the best PS5 exclusives.
Overall, Ratchet & Clank: Another Dimension is a game that would have been impossible for a previous generation. Not so much for its models, but for the performance, the lighting effects, the total absence of loading times (with instant dimension changes) or shaft furrows.

dead space remake
In 2008, Visceral Games and EA made us scream like hell, and worst of all, no one could hear us. 15 years later, the Dead Space remake threw the house out the window, improving on every part of the original game. Posted by EA Motive (Star Wars Squadrons).
Dead Space Remake is a complete pass. And it is precisely the audiovisual section that deserves all the praise, because this is where the horror of this masterpiece lies. Visiting the USG Ishimura with Isaac Clarke has never been so tense and terrifying, as well as great.
Dead Space analysis, the remake is so good it’s scary
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade
We end with one of the best role-playing games of recent years. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is the 2020 port of the remake on PlayStation 5, which not only improves on the technical section (which was already excellent) but also adds several new playable features.
We’re talking about real improvements, which can be easily checked when starting Intergrade (or the Intermission chapter on PS5). The epic adventure of Cloud, Aeris, Tifa, Barret and company is even more unforgettable in this edition… and we still have two games left to enjoy.
Analysis of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Intermission for PS5
We may have to update this report in a few years, as there are still plenty of bombshells to come for the PS5: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Final Fantasy XVI, Death Stranding 2, Marvel’s Wolverine, and more.
Next May 24 we will be attending a great presentation with all kinds of announcements for PS5 and PS VR2. We are really looking forward to seeing what PlayStation Showcase 2023 has in store for us.
Have you tried any of these 10 PS5 games? Do you think we left any out? In our opinion, they are the titles that best squeeze the next generation of Sony PlayStation hardware to date.
