The story of Australia’s little Hailey is really encouraging. Despite doctors saying she would never be able to walk again, she has now completed the triathlon.

Brisbane – 750m swim, 20km bike ride and 5km run. To many, that alone seems like pure exertion. Anyone who regularly skips jogging or going to the gym will surely find it difficult to complete this triathlon. That’s not a problem for ten-year-old Hailey from Australia, although she suffers from a spinal deformity. The congenital defect “spina bifida” does not allow your spine to develop properly. But that doesn’t stop Hailey from running a triathlon.

When Hallie was born, doctors informed her mother that her daughter would probably never walk properly. And in fact, she has not felt any sensation in the waist or below the knees till date. Triathlon alone is not enough for Hailey. She also runs hurdles and holds six Australian records there. The ten-year-old will turn 16 in 2028, when she can compete in the Paralympic Games.
