11 people were saved due to rain in Baja California

Heavy rains in the past few hours in Baja California have left roads flooded, power outages and 11 people rescued from their vehicles, according to reports from emergency areas in several town

Firefighters rescued a woman in Pato Canyon around 9:45 am, south of the city of Tijuana, when her car was swept away by a flood of water and mud.

In Playas de Rosarito, two of the main roads connecting the municipality of Tijuana, Bulevar Benito Juárez and the Pemex node, on the Escénica highway, were flooded and at least seven vehicles were trapped.

Arturo García Ames, director of Civil Protection and Firefighters in Playas de Rosarito, reported that his team rescued 10 people trapped in vehicles.

“10 people were saved, because the canal in that area overflowed, everyone is safe and well, the units remain in place, we have a house fire in Colonia Morelos, and that’s what we have in time is relevant,” the official said in an interview.

In addition, commented García Ames, tours are made of canyons and streams.

The rains caused damage in most of the cities of Tijuana, Playas de Rosarito and Mexicali, although heavy rains were also reported in Ensenada and Tecate.

According to the forecast, the cold front number 29, approaching the northwest of the Republic, is associated with an instability in the upper atmosphere and the polar and subtropical jet streams, which produce heavy rain in the state.
