12-10 win over Royals at National Race Festival

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (AP) — Len Thomas led off the game with a homer, Corey Dickerson’s three-run homer followed in an eight-run sixth and Luis Garcia finished with six hits for the Washington Nationals, which swept Kansas City. Defeated the Royals 12-. 10 on Friday.

Eight runs in an innings is the most in national history and was scored by Jordan Liles and Josh Stomont. Lyles (0-9) allowed five earned runs in five innings while allowing three walks with six hits and two strikeouts.

Dickerson, 34, is in his 11th season in the majors. He totaled eight hits, two runs and seven RBI since being called up on May 17.

Washington (22-29) led 9-2 in the top of the sixth, helped by an RBI single from Garcia (two) and Stomont’s Joey Meneses, who allowed four earned runs in a third of an inning.

The Royals (15–37) scored the next six runs, including Bobby Witt Jr.’s three-run homer off Erasmo Ramirez in the seventh, increasing the lead to 9–8. Witt also homered in the sixth for his second multi-homer game and career-high five RBIs.

Patrick Corbin (4-5) pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing six total runs, seven hits, four walks and six strikeouts.

For the Nationals, Mexican Joe Meneses drove in two runs and went 5–3 with two RBIs.

For the Reales, Salvador Pérez of Venezuela went 5–2 with a run and 3 RBI, Mackel Garcia went 5–2 with a run and an RBI.
