The discovery of the body of a 13-year-old boy hanging from a tree inside the “La Polovora” park in the town of Villahermosa, Tabasco, has caused an uproar among the residents of this entity, who observe with concern the growing number. Suicide in minors.

The events took place in the “La Polovora” park, located a few meters from the Technical Secondary School No. 9, where the teenagers studied.
It was some athletes who discovered the hanging body and mentioned that they had seen the boy enter the park, but they never wondered what his intentions were.

Tabasco is facing an “epidemic” of suicides among minors and this case brings the number of suicides so far in 2023 to nine.
Even the Tabasco health ministry warned that the number of suicides is expected to increase from 2021 onwards, with the most worrying being those aged 10 to 19, representing 30.5 percent.
In 2022, 135 cases of suicide were registered in the Tabasco region, of which 31 were in this age group.
Faced with this situation, Susana Isabel Vazquez, Director of Psychosocial Care of the Tabasco Health Secretariat, calls upon Tabasco society and especially families to engage in a crusade to identify the situations faced by minors in a timely manner and Which can lead them to disorders and, ultimately, to the desire to take their own life.
