17-year-old dies after shooting in Aurora

Police have confirmed the 17-year-old is dead after a Wednesday night shooting in Aurora involving a former Greenwood Village police officer.

Aurora police said they were notified of two men shooting each other in 4900 South Addison Way at around 10:30 pm Wednesday. Both were taken to hospital.

A 17-year-old boy died from his wounds. Another, 36-year-old former police officer, is expected to survive, Aurora police said.

The police also do not give a name.

Police believe the shooting began as an argument between an adult and a group of teenagers after allegedly reckless driving around the area. At some point during the quarrel, an adult and a teenager pulled out their pistols and opened fire.

According to police, detectives are working to find out who was the main aggressor and what circumstances led to the shooting. No arrests had been made as of Thursday afternoon.

Police said the 36-year-old does not work for any law enforcement agency.

This is the third shoot with teenagers in Aurora in a few days.

Two 15-year-old suspects were arrested in connection with the shooting from a passing Aurora’s car last week, which injured six teenagers.
