India is now advancing rapidly in the vaccination campaign against Corona. India has become the fastest vaccinating country in the world. More than 170 million people have been vaccinated in India, the Union Health Ministry said on Monday. It took China 119 days to reach that number of vaccinations, while the US took 115 days.
The vaccination campaign in India was started on 16 January. Vaccination for health workers and frontline workers began on 2 February. Subsequently, vaccination of other age groups was started. More than 170 million people have been vaccinated in the country so far. 17,01,76,603 people have been vaccinated in the country under 24,70,799 sessions, which is till 10 May, 20 May 2021 this morning.

This included 95,47,102 Healthcare Workers (HCW) who took the first dose and 64,71,385 Healthcare who took the second dose. 1,39,72,612 Frontline Workers (FLW) took the first dose. 77,55,283 frontline workers have been given the second dose of the vaccine. At the same time, 20,31,854 people aged 18–44 have taken the first dose. With this, 5,51,79,217 people aged 45,60 took the first dose and 65,61,851 people took the second dose. Whereas 5,36,74,082 people over the age of 60 have taken the first dose of vaccine and 1,49,83,217 people have taken the second dose of the vaccine.
Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh have received 66.79 percent of the total doses given in the country so far. The Ministry of Health reports that 2,46,269 beneficiaries between 18-44 in the country were given the first dose of corona vaccine within 24 hours, and a total of 20,31,854 people in 30 states and union territories were given the corona vaccine.
