The education and youth sector of Cabildo de Tenerife opens the deadline for 14 October to apply for the Language Immersion Scholarship (BIL) for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 academic years, for which it allocates over 3.3 million students. On this occasion, it is offering 490 places to study French and English in Canada, France, Ireland, the United States and, as an innovation, the United Kingdom, which are involved in the project through the Cambridge Scholarship Happening.
It is in this innovation that the island’s Minister of Education and Youth, Concepción Rivero, emphasizes, who explains that “we have worked very hard to include a new type of scholarship, the so-called Cambridge, which allows students to study a curriculum.” Allows to be supported by a prestigious British university and to live in the United Kingdom». The Cambridge Scholarship will have 20 places for students who are currently in the fourth year of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO). Participants will develop an online course during the first level of the Baccalaureate to end with a three-week stay in the United Kingdom, which will take place during the summer vacation period. Accommodation and meals will be at the Cambridge University residence itself.
As far as the modalities that have been part of this program till now are concerned, hardly any changes have been made. The language immersion scholarship can be taken for 105 days in Ireland, Canada or France. Students will live with a family and attend an educational center in the destination country. For this modality, 200 places are offered, those who are currently studying the third level of the ESO can choose.

Impulsa Scholarship develops online study in English or French. They can also be requested by those who are studying the third year of ESO. These include a one-month stay in Ireland, Canada or France, depending on the language chosen, during the holiday period after the completion of the course.
The objective of the dual scholarship is to obtain a parallel bachelor’s degree in Spanish in the United States or Canada. These include a one-month stay in the respective country during the summer holidays between two undergraduate courses, and those who are in their fourth year of ESO can apply.
The Insular Director of Education and Youth, Isabel Bello, assures that the Linguistic Immersion Scholarship is “an opportunity to deepen knowledge in a language” and recalls that “the profile of scholarship recipients is that of young people with exceptional academic performance.”
Applicants will opt jointly for language immersion or impulse scholarships on the one hand, and dual or Cambridge scholarships on the other. The award order will depend on the best academic record and in the event of a tie, the family’s income will be assessed. Applications will be submitted through the portal www.sede.tenerife.es.
