SANTA CLARA — Neither the 49ers’ resurgence nor the history of their spirited tours for the Seattle Seahawks proved enough for the NFL to keep their December 5th matchup in prime time.
Instead, they will air at 1:25 p.m. on CBS instead of NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” stage.
What the Seahawks might be saying politely: “It’s not you. This is us.”
The Seahawks (3-7) are placed last, and Sunday suffered their fourth loss in five home games this season. This includes prime-time home losses to the Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints last month.
The 49ers (5-5) have won three of their last four to fuel playoff implications for Sunday’s upcoming tour by the Minnesota Vikings (5-5) at 1:25 p.m.

Changing the 49ers-Seahawks game in Week 13 prime time is the Denver Broncos (5-5) AFC meeting at the Kansas City Chiefs (7-4).
When the NFL schedule came out, the 49ers drew a maximum of five prime-time games at the time. Among them, the 49ers lost to the Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts at home and the Los Angeles Rams on November 15. The 49ers’ remaining prime-time game is a trip to the Tennessee Titans on Thursday night, December 23.
The 49ers also crashed out of prime time last season, their Week 15 trip to the Dallas Cowboys.
In 2019, the 49ers went 5-1 in prime time, including a win in Seattle in the regular-season finale to secure the NFC’s No. 1 seed and NFC West. It also broke the 49ers’ eight-game losing streak in Seattle.
The Seahawks’ only prime-time kickoff remaining on their schedule is Monday night’s visit to Washington.
