84 Players Take Part in Women's Butt Creek Tournament |  Tee to green

The theme for the 55th Annual Butte Creek Women’s Invitation Tournament was Women in Golf, Then and Now. The 84-player Stableford field with four players and top two balls was divided into three groups based on team handicap. Overall, Karla Draiss, Sally Stemen, Kelly McKinnon and Dee Sanders won the lowest gross with 202 points. The overall low net team included Sheila McMurphy, Linda Mowell, Becky Callas and Liz Mosher with 267 points.

Mildred Zacharias – Babes Flight: 1, Kay Kurdzil, Nancy Stallins, Mary Michelle & Leslie Williams, 266 points; 2 – Colleen Cutts, Rochelle Health, Gail Cole and Donna Mattingly – 261 points; 3, Jeanie Lowe, Sherri Sue, Paula Sands and Sue Snow, 251 points.

Annika Sorenstam – Angels flight: 1, Barbara Yoronen, Gail Johnson, Darlene Thomasson and Betty Linzy – 253 points; 2: Sandy Fortino, Chris McGee, Joy Smith & Jennifer O’Donoghue, 241 points 3, Irma Jenkins, Lynn Beyers, Gloria Berson and Melinda Self, 236 points.

Nelly Korda – flight of the “nymphs”: 1, Marian Chandler, Yumiko Hankins, Keith Harvey and Mile Alfaro – 240 points; 2, draw, Linda Scarff, Carol Moore, Marilyn Winterstein and Penny Wickman, as well as Paula Rich, Cindy Arreghi, Sue Bechtol and Karen Kruger, scored 234 points.

Pulting Team Competitions: 1 – Ruth Younger and Pat Radisich; 2, draw, Dreiss and McKinnon, Williams and Kurdzil, Self and Linda Arellano. Chipping Competition: 1, Draw, Debbie Madero & Fortino.

Long Drive Winners: Pat Stevenson, Susie Westcott, Bonnie Surminski and Arreghi.

Precision Race Winners: Stallins, Lowe and Chandler. The closest to the conclusion is the first day: No. 3: Dreiss; No. 17: Callas. Day Two: No. 3: Stallins; No. 17: Dreiss.

The Butte Creek Women’s Golf Club also hosted weekly games last week. Irma Jenkins was at the top of the leaderboard on the maiden voyage with a clean score of 71. Other earnings from the small golf store loan were: 2. Sherry Kimmelsch, 72; 3, draw, Sandy Fortino & Sheila McMurphy, 74. Second flight: 1, Darlene Thomasson, 78; 2, Karen Beckman, 85; 3, Paula Rich, 89.

Last Saturday, the 15th Annual Men’s Autumn Black T-shirt Tournament took place.

The victory in the first flight with two players and the best result of 99.8 points was the team of brothers Thadd and Steve Christophel. Father and son Bill and Davis Rich’s team finished second with a score of 101.2. The team of Derek Minetti and Chris Scarff finished the prizes in the first flight, taking third place with a score of 102.67. Second flight: 1, Mike Weir and Tony Pozas, 103.35; 2, Mark Blofsky and Eric Blofsky (another father-son duo), 103.47; 3, Mike Bechtol and Pat Clements, 105.27. Bidwell Park Golf Course

Bidwell Park Women’s Golf Club hosted a four-player, top-two ball away tournament last week.

The first place with a score of 124 was taken by the team of Barbara Joronen, Linda Scarff, Gail Johnson and Darlene Thomasson. 2, Cheryl Goodwin, Susie Mann, Barbara Albers & Blind Draw, 126; 3, no map, Betty Linzy, Liz Hofeling, Becky Callas and Julie Smith, 127; 4, Gail Aylward, Linda Mowell, Yumiko Hankins & blind draw, 127; 5, Kelly McKinnon, Loretta Harra, Karla Dreiss & Vicky Elcessor, 127, no card; 6, Barbara Lutz, Molly Barnum, Sue Blizzman and Susan Pease. Chico-Paradise SIR’s Golf Club

Chico-Paradise SIR Golf Club traveled to the Almanora area and played Bailey Creek for their half-month tournament while enduring the cold and wind.

The first place in the scrum format was taken by the team of Ken Baker, Steve Storm and Jim Weidert with a clean score of 62. The team of Durrell Hands, Craig Herman and Cap Porterfield scored 62.2 points and finished second. Closest to badge # 8: 1, Mark Haider; 2, Bob Bell; 3, Charles Demmer. Hole No. 13: 1, Herman; 2, Jeff Heber; 3, Weidert.

Canyon Oaks Country Club

The annual women’s match play championship in Canyon Oaks concluded last week, with the exception of 1st and 2nd in Division Three next week. First flight: 1, Nancy Vieira; 2, Cynthia Paulo; 3, Shelley Carney. Second flight: 1, Evie Spring; 2, Sally Pearson; 3, Linda Alworth. Third flight: 1 and 2 are yet to be played; 3, draw, Jakki Thomas and Sue Heymann.

The Canyon Oaks Women’s Golf Club hosted a weekly three-player tournament. 1, Evie Spring, Fran Wedow & Jakki Thomas, 67. 4. 2, Pat Radisich, Melinda Self & Katie Edgar, 68. 7. Closest to badge # 3: 1, Thomas; 2, Vicky Spelts; 3, Linda Arellano.

Table Mountain Golf Course

The Table Mountain Women’s Golf Club’s weekly game was called Mutt & Jeff, in which the players counted par 3, par 5 and one par 4, subtracting the player’s handicap in half. Sandy Goble had a low gross score that day at 83. Elaine Thomas scored 5 points with a lower handicap to win a low score at 67. First flight: 1, Jody Thompson, 32; 2, Liz Hofeling, 33; 3, Deb Lerner, 34.5; 4, Sue Snow, 35.5; Tracy Cvetkovic, 36.5. Spectacular footage

Last week, Dick Brooks became the seventh career ace at the Rolling Hills Links 14th hole. Brooks’ perfect 120-yard shot from an eight target was witnessed by his playmates Mike Liddell and Jim Boyd.

Julie Smith won the 12th hole at Bidwell during the Ladies Guest Day last week. Smith’s excellent throw from a precise 97-yard angle was loved by her teammates Betty Linzy, Liz Hofeling and Becky Callas.

Jeff Fontana made two heads on the seventh hole at Butte Creek. Fontana hit the cup from 95 yards away, as witnessed by fellow playmates Steve Hawes and Dave Schwartz.
