Police arrested a Cuban resident in Miami and imprisoned in the Florida Keys for allegedly stealing a boat with which His intention was to return to Cuba.
According to the television channel Local 10, the man named Cristian Torres Perez is 30 years old and plans to return to the island from the US using a commercial fishing boat.
According to Monroe County Sheriff’s Office officials, A man from Cayo Maratán reported the theft of his 40-foot-long fishing boat on Monday morning.
The man, who was not identified, may have accused one of his former employees, Torres Perez, of theft, who recently resigned from his job. “And he was talking about going back to Cuba, because he didn’t like living in the United States.”
The report said that hours after the boat was reported stolen, the victim was contacted by the US Coast Guard and told that the distressed beacon on her boat had been activated about 50 miles south of Key West.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, The Coast Guard found that the stolen boat was damaged and stranded in the water and Torres Perez was seen waving his arms for help.
Later, a tanker ship picked up the Torres Perez and took him to Key West, where he was arrested.
