The owner of the ship and sailors of the Nuevo Abeijn were rescued by the Pesca 1 helicopter and transferred to the hospital in Barbanza.
A wooden boat from the inshore fleet assigned to the Noia brotherhood ran aground after ten in the morning when it was in the O Neixn area, in front of Monte Louro. about the New Abeijn ship, with a crew of four on board. The owner of the ship and the sailors were able to save some rocks and are waiting for the arrival of the Pesca 1 helicopter from Gardacostas de Galicia to save them. They were all fine and were taken to the Barbanza hospital.
The warning was given at 10:25 by a fishing boat that, through VHF channel 16, informed the Maritime Rescue Center of Monte Enxa that there was a boat very close to the rocks. Other fishing boats approached the area. However, poor sea conditions made rescue by sea impossible.
Salvamento Martimo also mobilized the Salvamar Regulus, which confirmed to Salvamento Martimo the difficulty of accessing the area where the Nuevo Abeijn crew was. From Salvamento Martimo they confirmed that the boat was destroyed after hitting the rocks and subsequently sinking.
At 12:30 p.m., the Salvamar Regulus removed the remains of the boat from the water to prevent this danger to navigation.
