In the first two months of 2023, Quintana Roo will record 1.6 million foreign arrivals, 800,000 more than the previous year. More than the floods registered in the same period of 2020, before the Covid-19 pandemic.
Figures from the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council (CPTQ) show that 1.6 million foreigners came to enjoy the beauty of the Mexican Caribbean in January and February this year, 1.4 million from 9 countries classified as strategic markets.
Of the nine countries that CPQ considers a strategic state market, five are located in the Americas:
USA
• Canada
• Colombia
• Argentina
• Brazil
and four from Europe:
• England

Among these countries, the largest increases in the proportion of visitors to the Mexican Caribbean during the first two months of 2020–2023 were in Colombia (34.9%), followed by France (22.9%). During this period, Argentina’s attendance increased by 16.7% from 2020 to 2023; Spanish by 15.9%, and English by 14.8%; The number of visitors from Germany increased by 13.2%, with the number of Americans increasing by 12.8%.
