Auckland. The 31-year-old man was shot and killed Monday night outside Mosswood Park after getting into some sort of altercation with another man when he was stopped in his car, authorities said.
On Tuesday, the man’s condition was stable.
The shooting, recorded with ShotSpotter technology, was reported at around 10:39 pm Monday at the intersection of West MacArthur Boulevard and Webster Street.
Police said the victim was in his car, which was heading east on West MacArthur, and pulled up on Webster Street, apparently due to traffic lights. While he was in his car, a man approached him and, after exchanging words, shot him, authorities said.
The perpetrator then fled in a car, possibly a pickup truck, heading north along Webster Street, authorities said.
Authorities said the injured man was able to drive a short distance before his car crashed into a tree in the middle west of Broadway, opposite the Kaiser Hospital.
The police are trying to determine the motive for the shooting. No arrests have been made.
