A mother’s love is as simple as it is bold, she generously shows us that she wants the best for her children, and there is no doubt that she is capable of something good.
This is a clear example that Blanca Díaz, Violeta’s mother, showed us a teenager who was left in a vegetative state when she was medicated with dipyrone and ondansetron because of the nausea and menstrual cramps that afflicted her.
broken dreams
Four years ago, Violeta went to San Pablo Hospital for menstrual cramps, which caused her a lot of pain. Doctors applied dipyrone and ondansetron to his arm, he suffered cardiorespiratory arrest and was left with severe cerebral palsy.
“What happened when my daughter cut short a lot of work, especially Violet, a beautiful girl, full of life and a great posterity,” says the sad mother.
Blanca is a teacher and has put aside all her work and devoted herself fully to the health and care of her daughter.
“I am a teacher of a basic technical school and a secondary school”, I can no longer have a position at this time, unfortunately. In addition to being a mother, I had a wife and a daughter as well, who is still patiently taking care of my 93-year-old father. I consider myself, he said, a very active woman.
He spent three months in violet intensive care and was then left with severe cerebral palsy due to the medication applied. After this traumatic event, the state of the mother’s mental health also declined.
“I am suffering from anxiety and depression, I am getting a little rest, for which I am undergoing psychological treatment and I am doing physical activities like Zumba.
For all things are possible
For this mother is not impossible. He takes care of his daughter taking physiotherapy and carries her in his arms every day. “For I should not be sick or in pain”, he says, and adds: “Every day I think that I am strong, beautiful and fair to my daughter, to be able to promote her”, he says proudly. .
He says that Violet is his living inspiration and that he will always stand in this fight every day.
“As a mother and as a woman, my heart is completely overwhelmed with pain to this day.”
Violeta was a healthy girl who loved dancing and school, went to San Pablo Hospital to be treated for menstrual cramps and remained bedridden forever, barely existing dependent on expensive drugs.
This year the 17-year-old girl was to complete her secondary studies. “I took her with her colleagues to celebrate her UPD (last first day). I don’t know how I could bear it, all this hurts so much”, asks the woman.
hope
Violet is an incurable medical condition. He does not speak, does not move, does not emit signals. Despite all the diagnosis, Blanca does not hope that her daughter will rise again. “Science can give a diagnosis, but with God nothing is impossible,” he said.
For this reason, the mother, together with the staff of the Public Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, continues to fight so that her daughter does not lack physical and neurocognitive rehabilitation, since Violeta is the first girl to wear a machine called a baclofen pump, which is here. in Paraguay it is unknown.
“This device goes under the skin and the catheter goes to the spinal cord and there it shoots a medicine called baclofen, which is not available here on earth. This medication means that Violeta does not suffer pain and can carry out her physiotherapy”, he recalls.
He says that he endeavors to bear this matter with love, wisdom, and patience.
“My life and the life of Viola is completely changed, but I thank God and those who heard my voice and my cry and are with us. To see a smile is beyond seeing that only God can give us the miracle of life,” he emphasizes.
Violeta’s monthly expenses exceed G. 5,000,000. The mother does not have the ability to work, and therefore challenges the solidarity of the people. A grown girl needs diapers, powder, wet wipes, deodorant, among other things.
