A new 6.3 magnitude earthquake shook western Afghanistan

At least 50 people were injured after a 6.3-magnitude earthquake shook western Afghanistan on Wednesday, where rescue teams were deployed after Saturday’s devastating earthquakes, which left more than 2,400 dead.

The earthquake, with a magnitude of 6.3 and a depth of 10 kilometers, was recorded 28 kilometers northwest of the province of Afghanistan at 05:41 local time, 00:41 GMT, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

The earthquake was followed by two other magnitudes 5.0 and 4.1 with very close epicenters, each about 20 minutes apart, according to the same source. “Herat was shaken again by a strong earthquake, ambulances in Herat are patrolling the city of Herat to take possible injured people to health centers,” said the deputy director general of the National Radio and Afghanistan television under Taliban control, Hedayatullah Hedayat.
