Parents of school students received a circular informing them of this change in dress code. The aim of the school is to provide greater freedom and protection against the cold for students, as well as greater comfort. This measure will be implemented in the school district of Retiro next June for the next academic year.
However, the center’s decision caused some controversy among the students’ parents, who did not understand the reason for this move.
The center, as it spoke to Europa Press, confirmed that this new reality will be implemented progressively and that it seeks to achieve “an adaptation to the new times,” and they assured that the pants “offer more freedom of movement and more comfort.”. This initiative was born in 2019 in Pureza de María Bilbao. This was the first of the fourteen centers where the transformation began.
In Pureza in Madrid, in the 2024–2025 academic year, those students who start the first year of primary education or those who need to buy a new uniform will wear this uniform. In this way, we aim to make this process gradual. Each year, it will be implemented for one more year: in 2025/2026, the first and second years of primary education, until the full implementation of primary and secondary education in the 2028/2029 year.
As for the parents, they regret that this change was made without their opinion. One of the mothers said they were forced to buy the pants instead of the skirt no matter what because the latter was no longer produced. He also alleged that in 2018, there was a change in the center’s uniform, and now they have to change again, with the cost it requires.
On the part of the center, they assured that “every year in which the process begins, complaints are received from some parents, which we understand. We believe, in any case, that the benefits of this uniform union are greater. and we confirm the good reception from most families of the decision”.
