A weekend full of shootings and panic in America

A man armed with a rifle has killed shopkeepers in the food court of an Indiana mall. Four people were killed in a shooting at a Houston residence.

Comedian Craig Robinson was also unable to make his acting debut in North Carolina, as attendees had to flee from a gunman.

In Las Vegas, chaos erupted in a gunshot-filled casino at the MGM Grand, with gamblers flipping over to cover the poker tables amid a panic looming over broken glass doors.

Gun violence has taken over the United States.

“I’m trembling,” Ignacio Molina said in a video posted to Twitter, following the relative calm at a Las Vegas casino.

It was a false alarm, but more than half a dozen people were killed or injured in gun violence over the weekend, including one 12-year-old, two 16-year-olds and one 18-year-old.

Fear of a shooting has left many people unsettled, and the shooting – or panic at the prospect of one – is part of a wave of attacks across the United States in 2022 after meals at a school, a church, a grocery store and a fourth Is. July parades in Illinois’ Highland Park have become the scene of murder in recent months.

Here’s a look at what happened over the weekend:

,

Greenwood, Indiana

Three people were killed and two others were injured in a gunshot fired by a man inside a Greenwood Park shopping center on Sunday afternoon. Police said an armed civilian shot the attacker.

Greenwood Police Chief James Iason said Monday that the shooter began shooting as he exited a restroom at the mall in suburban Indianapolis, shortly before the shooting closed.

The dead included married couple Pedro Pineda, 56, and Rosa Mirian Rivera de Pineda, 37, and Victor Gomez, 30, according to the coroner’s office.

Isan said a 22-year-old man with a legal weapon killed the attacker, taking him into custody “almost immediately”.

“Many more people would have died last night if not for this responsible armed citizen,” Ison said.

The attacker was not among the three dead. Police identified him as 20-year-old Jonathan Sapirman, but his motive is unknown.

houston

Four people were killed in a shooting at an apartment complex in Houston on Saturday night.

The Harris County Police Department said witnesses said several people fired at each other after an argument.

Police Chief Ed Gonzalez said the dead included two 16-year-olds, a 19-year-old and a 25-year-old.

The police department did not identify the victims, a motive or suspects.

,

Charlotte, North Carolina

According to police and eyewitnesses, people waiting for the show to start in the comedy zone fled on Saturday night when a man pulled out a gun, asked everyone to come out and then started shooting in the empty room.

No one got injured. The man, whom police identified as Omar McCombs, drew his gun before actor and comedian Craig Robinson walked on stage.

There were about 50 people in the room.

McCombs, 36, was arrested and faces multiple charges, including assault. Police did not release a motive.

Robinson has starred in films such as “Hot Tub Time Machine” as well as the US version of the television show “The Office”. On Saturday night, he posted a video on his Instagram account in which he said that he is safe.

,

Las Vegas

People fled in fear and overturned poker tables after they heard gunshots inside the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino on Saturday night.

The police found no evidence of bullets, only broken glass doors in the parking area.

Videos posted on social media showed people marching towards the Strip, including a video of police officers arriving at the scene with guns as several people fled in the opposite direction.

,

Tulsa

Police said an 18-year-old woman was killed when a gunfight broke out in the early hours of Sunday at a site known as the Center of the Universe.

According to the police, the victim was in a vehicle when an altercation broke out between the two groups. Police said a shooting was recorded in which the woman was hurt.

Police received reports of gunfire and boys “running everywhere” at the site, a concrete enclosure known for its acoustic properties.
