The growth of the iPhone user base is keeping pace with a trend of Android followers who decide to take the plunge—regardless of how complicated it may be—and change their mobile for one from Apple.
In the constant battle between iPhone and Android users, there is fierce competition to win and retain their respective followers. Each of these operating systems has unique strategies for building user loyalty, while switching from one to the other can be a complicated and sometimes costly task.
Apple with its iPhone and iOS, and Android with its wide range of devices, strives to offer exclusive features and services that keep its users loyal to the brand. However, their loyalty often becomes an obstacle, as leaving one ecosystem and adopting a new one can lead to resistance and some degree of technical difficulty.
Despite this, it seems that a certain shift is still being observed which is in favor of Apple. According to research firm Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP), which has just published a report on the same, it suggests that there is a clear trend of people preferring to ditch Android for iPhone.
“In the 12 months ending March 2023, 15% of iPhone buyers reported switching from an Android phone, while 83% reported staying with the iPhone,” he explains.

The iPhone Trend That Never Stopped Growing
The graph above shows that the percentage of people leaving Android for iOS is growing every year. In 2021, only 10% of iPhone buyers will skip Android, with talk of a jump to 11% in 2022 and then a 15% jump today.
On the other hand, it is interesting to mention how the rest of the brands (Blackberry or Windows) are moving forward, perhaps leaving more room for users who decide to transition to the iPhone.
It is undeniable that Apple’s reputation as a quality and reputable brand has attracted many users. Apple products are often considered a status and lifestyle symbol, which has created a strong allure for those looking for a slightly more premium experience and finally the prices are no longer that different from one brand to another.
Furthermore, integration and synergy between Apple devices is one of the major factors that motivate users to switch. Lastly, the company has been recognized for its rigorous approach to protecting personal data and protecting its equipment.
