ACS has begun work on building the structure that will support the Buffalo Bills NFL team’s new stadium

ACS, through its subsidiary Turner – which has partnered with the construction company Gilbane for this project – is progressing with the construction of the new stadium for the Buffalo Bills football team. After seven months of excavation, the consortium has begun work on installing the steel framework on which the new Bills stadium will rest.

The companies celebrated the start of this phase with a worker appreciation lunch attended by Governor Kathy Hochul, Buffalo Bills owner Terry Pegula; and Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz.

To build this infrastructure, Turner and his partner will use 25,000 tons of steel, enough to build three Eiffel towers. Its assembly, which will last between 12 and 14 months, will be possible thanks to several large cranes.

Once the steel structure is in place, the building will be clad, mechanical, plumbing and electrical installations will be assembled, and each section of the stadium will be constructed. The number of workers on the job will increase to more than 1,500 a day from the current 300 people as the work continues.

Project and numbers

The stadium, which will be called the New Highmark Stadium and where construction began last June, will offer a combination of general seating, club, premium and suite offerings, as well as party and standing-only decks, according to in the reports. explained. It also has larger lobbies, greater food and beverage offerings and modern entertainment technologies. Amenity spaces surround the perimeter of the main and upper lobby to provide wind and weather protection for customers and open views of the countryside.

The fan experience in the new stadium will be, according to its founders, “an atmosphere that will retain the unique atmosphere of a game day outside of Buffalo.” To this end, an awning will be built on the roof to keep approximately 65% of the seats covered to protect them from the rain and thus provide greater comfort to the fans. “Our goal is to build a fan-focused, football-centric facility that will provide a vibrant game day atmosphere unlike any other in the NFL,” said Turner Vice President and General Manager Carl Stewart. .

The stadium will be built thanks to a public-private agreement that includes an investment of 550 million euros in the State of New York that will be recovered through taxes and the economic activity generated by the team. Erie County will contribute another 230 million euros and the Bills and the NFL will invest no less than 635 million euros.

ACS recently specialized in the construction of sports venues. Next to the Bills stadium, he recently announced that he will build the first football stadium in New York City. Specifically, the company, along with HOK, will work with Queens Development Group on a Willets Point project that will include 2,500 homes, a 650-seat public school, a hotel, open spaces and a stadium. of the New York City Football Club with a capacity for 25,000 spectators and a budget of 710 million euros.
