ACS has reached a significant milestone in its marketing to the US market, becoming the most powerful contractor of the US Navy, due to the evaluation of a large contract to proceed with the replacement of the shipyard in the emblematic Berry Harbor in the State of Hawaii. With a base change of about 2,670 million coins, the final amount could go over 3,200 million coins.
The replacement of the so-called Dry Dock 3 was donated by a consortium led by Dragados, a construction group headed by Florentino Pérez, and completed by the local construction company Hawaiian Dredging and Orion.
In this way, the Spanish group of construction and concessions begins to use the synthesis of cooperation that was signed with the US Army in 2021 to collaborate in the development of construction methods and technical innovations for the purpose.
In a note, the US Navy (Department of the Army Navy) explains that the Navy III, which was built in 1942, was precisely the key to the Second World War in the year of obsolescence, because the Los Angeles-class submarines are not nuclear plants. in service
Jobs until 2027
Currents, in the name of Virginia, and others even larger, cannot be maintained with current facilities; The consortium led by Dragados will work on a new dam ready in 2027.
“This project is a key investment to modernize and expand the capacity of our fleet, through new equipment, technology and improvements in workflow,” said Pete Lynch, head of the Industrial Infrastructure program.
ACS explained that this project represents the first major construction contract awarded within the 8000 million dollar program to improve naval operations in Hawaii and the state of Washington, in which Dragados will continue to participate as one of the five teams selected by the US Navy.
It is considered a critical facility for the US Navy, since nuclear submarines will have it’s most complete home in the fleet.
The contract confirms the consideration of North America as a strategic and future market for ACS, which has identified potential projects in the US and Canada worth 200,000 million in the coming years.
At the end of 2022, North America contributes 62% of the total sales of the group, as well as over 20,800 million for the group, and 53% of the order book, which is close to 69,000 million in total.
