The former mayor of Barcelona and leader of the BComú of the Barcelona City Council, Ada Colau, announced this Thursday her decision not to become a minister, despite insisting on her political position.
“My political space has repeatedly asked me to consider being a minister, but I have already said no,” he said in an interview reported by Europa Press. Colau assured that he made the decision to reject the position due to personal and political reasons.
He assured that, for the first time, he considered it seriously because the political space to which he belonged and he felt – in his words – “responsible and committed” asked him to do it. But he assured that in the end, after giving it much consideration, he rejected it.
He will continue in politics
Colau admits that “ministerial politics”, although necessary, is the part of politics that attracts the least attention because it is “very office-based and formal.” Moreover, he does not believe that this is the position where he can give the best version of himself.
Although he strongly stated that he will not give up politics. “I have been involved in politics all my life since high school, and I have always been a political animal and I will do politics. Now I am focused on Barcelona and little by little,” he explained.
He also maintained that he is a “convinced municipal activist” who wants to help create a left-wing agreement in Barcelona and that – by not having as many responsibilities as when he was mayor – he has experienced a very different situation. .
Your personal reasons
