Based on the plan for restructuring Guerrero after Hurricane Otis, President López Obrador detailed in the morning conference today, November 1, 20 points to support the people who live in this state affected by the meteorological phenomenon. One of them is that the beneficiaries of the program Welfare Pension for the Elderly are given 2 months in advance to pay this social support starting Monday, November 6.
“Fast forward 2 months from next Monday (November 6) HE payment in all welfare programs: senior adult pension to people with disabilities, scholarships, support for producers, fishermen, young people, and others,” confirmed President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in a press conference today, Wednesday, November 1.
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador also detailed that 10,000 more young people will be accepted from the program Young People Building the Future to do cleaning, construction, painting, and other activities where they will receive a minimum wage, starting today, November 1, when the hiring begins.
Also, it will double the number of scholarships for Basic Education students, from 45,000 to 90,000 scholarships immediately, in addition to establishing a 6-month extension of payment for Infonavit, Foster, and Social Security. The electricity service will also not be paid from November 2023 to February 2024. A basic basket of 24 food products per week will also be delivered (all families in Acapulco will be included; about 250 thousand affected families).
All households will also be given 8,000 pesos for cleaning and painting; for all households in Acapulco and those affected, the compensation will be up to 60,000 pesos, depending on the damage. In addition, all affected families will be given a package of household items consisting of a bed, stove, refrigerator, fan, and a set of dishes.
20 thousand word credits of 25,000 pesos without interest will be given to them within 3 years with 6 months of grace for the benefit of small businessmen. The federal government will allocate 10 billion pesos from the public budget this year for the supply and improvement of water distribution lines, drainage, street repairs, public lighting, hospitals, and schools.
The Mexican president also detailed that no taxes will be collected in Acapulco or Coyuca from October 2023 to February 2024; VAT, income tax, and other taxes and duties will not be collected. A barracks of the National Guard with 250 elements in each will be built in every neighborhood with more than a thousand houses to guarantee the peace and tranquility of all citizens and prevent robberies.
