MIAMI ( Associated Press) — Jesus Aguilar, Jorge Soler and Brian Anderson homered for the Miami Marlins, who beat the Milwaukee Brewers 9-3 on Saturday.
Starter Trevor Rogers (2-4) pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing only one run. He gave up five hits, dished out eight strikeouts and hit a pitch.
A day after leaving early with an upset stomach, Avisaíl García had a pair of singles for Miami, which snapped a five-game losing streak at home.
Solo homers by Aguilar and Soler, as well as Anderson’s two-round shot off starter Eric Lauer (3-1) in the fourth, helped the Marlins erase a 1-0 deficit.
Aguilar and Soler started the inning with their hits, while Anderson hit his home run after Jesus Sanchez reached on a two-out single.
The Marlins extended their lead in the sixth with a two-run double by Miguel Rojas. A fielder’s choice by Garrett Cooper then allowed Rojas to score from third base.
For the Brewers, Mexican Luis Urías 4-1 with a run scored. Willy Adames 4-1 with one run scored and one produced. Puerto Rican Victor Caratini 2-0.
For the Marlins, the Venezuelans Aguilar 5-2 with a run scored and two RBIs, Garcia 5-2 with a run scored, Rojas 4-1 with a run scored and two RBIs. Cuban Soler 2-1 with a run scored and an RBI. The Dominicans Erik González 1-0, Sánchez 3-1 with two runs scored.
