Ahsoka Tano’s white suit has many meanings. Therefore, it is time to logically explain the secret hidden in it.
It’s time to give Ahsoka’s white suit an explanation. (We warn of spoilers for episode 5 of the series) Rosario Dawson’s wardrobe underwent a major change in the last episode. A change that reflected his character’s journey and development. Since his first appearance in the second season of The Mandalorian, the Togruta has always been dressed in gray. In fact, this resulted in a major change from her appearance in the Star Wars Rebels epilogue, where she appeared dressed in white. In the final episode of the Star Wars series on Disney+, Ahsoka finally swaps her gray clothes for the aforementioned white color. A transformation that goes far beyond just clothing.
Of course, Ahsoka earned her white outfit after completing the challenge of the World Between Worlds a representation of her teacher, Anakin Skywalker, who helped her embark on a journey that prepared her for whatever came. Anakin takes her back through some of her memories of the Clone Wars, an experience that forces Ahsoka to relive the events of her past that she is trying to hide from. This development in the mystical world of the Force is the trigger for Ahsoka’s suit change. It’s a kind of rebirth of the character.
This isn’t the first time Ahsoka has died and been resurrected. Every encounter with death meant a new transformation and lesson for her.. His first death occurred on the planet Mortis during the storyline of The Clone Wars. On Mortis, she was resurrected by the Daughter, the Goddess of Power, who embodied the light side of the Force and gave her life for that of the Togruta.
Ahsoka’s second death came at the hands of Darth Vader in Star Wars Rebels, but Ezra Bridger’s own experience in the world between worlds saved her when she was brought out of that moment.. Through these resurrections, the Togruta learned that thanks to the daughter she embodies the light side of the Force and that she could not have saved her master. But what she now had to overcome is the past. His past.
The Clone Wars affected Ahsoka deeply., which made her believe that she was just a warrior and not a keeper of peace. And so he thought he could only cause chaos, destruction and death. Coming to terms with his past after so many years from his teacher’s perspective has taught him to think differently. And the fact that Ahsoka’s clothes turn white is symbolic of that growth. The color white represents loyalty, probably to power and its place in its balance. It could also mean a deeper bond with the daughter and Ahsoka’s connection to the Goddess of Power, which is also manifested in the Togruta’s proximity to the bird named Morai.
Dave Filoni was often inspired by The Lord of the Rings. Especially when it comes to Gandalf. The fact that Ahsoka wears gray and transforms into white is a reflection of Gandalf the Grey, who also transformed into Gandalf the White after his death and resurrection. Gandalf gave his life to fight the Balrog, just as the Togruta do with Baylan Skoll.
Both characters even suffer a long fall that results in their deaths in each of their respective moments. However, Gandalf is sent back from the afterlife to complete the task he initially began. And the whiteness of his appearance is symbolic of the transformation he underwent during his resurrection.. Ahsoka had a similar experience when she was sent back from the World Between Worlds to complete her mission and wear the same color that reflects her rebirth.
