Amazon is hiring to build an “advanced” and “magical” AR / VR product.

According to protocol specifications, Amazon plans to build its own wholesale virtual reality product with technology giants such as Apple, Google and Meta.

Many related roles include roles in computer vision, product management, and more. They also mentioned “XR / AR tools” and “advanced XR research concept”. Since Protocol submitted its report on Monday, many of the worksheets have been removed, and others have been removed in a different language about products.

For example, Protocol, Senior Technical Program Manager, writes that the New Products Description contains the phrase “Advanced XR Research Concepts into a Magical and Useful New-World Consumer Product”. Now it simply reads, “You will develop a magical and useful consumer product,” although our team is also focusing on creating products using advanced navigation, display and machine learning technologies.

UX Designer Role Applicants are asked to “focus on motion design, animation, AR / VR, games, architecture or industrial design” with “core system interface with core user applications”. From multi-modal interfaces to 3D AR entertainment experiences. (Again, some languages have been edited or removed after processing the protocol.)

Google, Microsoft and Snap have all released different AR wearables over the years with varying degrees of success, and they still seem to be working on future products in that category. Meanwhile, the fact that Apple employs a large number of engineers, researchers, and other consumer wholesale ARs on hybrid devices is one of the industry’s biggest secrets. And Meta (formerly Facebook) has clearly been aiming to focus on AR for the past two years.

Not surprisingly, Amazon has pursued the same thing. As a protocol note, Amazon has launched a new R&D team led by Carris O’Connell, who previously worked on AR products at Google and elsewhere.

But Amazon products may not be the ones Meta and Apple focus on. It may not be worn at all. Some Amazon job descriptions refer to it as a “smart home” tool. And Amazon is one of the technology companies that has been testing classroom and hologram testing instead of AR.

Regardless of the product, many of the items listed may play a role in the development process and may be delayed for many years.
