Ana de Armas may not wear Marilyn Monroe’s actual dress in “Blonde,” but she does a good job of filling her shoes.
It’s based on the first trailer for the upcoming Netflix biopic about the iconic sex symbol, released on Thursday.
The “official teaser” featured de Armas broadcasting some of Monroe’s most famous moments, including her rendition of “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” from “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes”.
However, De Armas is not seen singing “Happy Birthday” to John F.
The film’s gist describes it as “a bold reimagining of the life ofOne of Hollywood’s most enduring icons,” from a volatile childhood, through rise to stardom and romantic entanglements, as Norma Jean Mortensen.
De Armas told Netflix Q that director Andrew Dominic told him he wanted The world “to experience what it really felt like not only Marilyn, but Norma Jean.”
He added, “I found her story to be the most daring, unattainable and feminist I had ever seen.”
The film is based on the Joyce Carol Oates novel of the same name. De Armas said he prepared for the role by studying “Hundreds of photos, videos, audio recordings, movies – anything I could get my hands on. ,
Every scene in the film is inspired by an existing photograph, and de Armas said that he and Dominic would pay attention to every detail in each picture and debate what was happening in it.
“The first question was always, ‘What was Norma Jean feeling here?’ We wanted to tell the human side of her story. Fame made Marilyn the most visible person in the world, but it also made Norma the most invisible.”
The NC-17 film debuted on the streaming platform 23 September, and Dominic told Vulture that it had “There is something in this to offend everyone. ,
