Antonio Ecarri is perhaps the only Venezuelan leader expelled from a party under the extraordinary accusation of political bigamy. Punishments for cases of indiscipline, violation of doctrinal rules, treason, jumping the talanquera and other immoralities are common in the chaotic national partisan situation. But the dismissal for being a member of two parties at the same time is an excuse that, due to its unique nature, seems anecdotal, typical of cheap politicking, by politicians.

Now, the leader of the Alianza del Lápiz and candidate for the Presidency of the Republic seeks to place himself between the two blocs, without commitments of any kind – without sentimentality – to what he calls the “old opposition” or the ruling party. However, if you see how happy he is in the event organized by Jorge Rodríguez with different causes in the country – without the participation of the Unitary Platform – to present the proposals of the electoral schedule, it seems clearly superior still single, he is with the regime in the strategy to leave María Corina Machado, the only opposition candidate supported by millions of Venezuelans who cannot wait to end this dream that has lasted for 25 years.
But let’s go back to punishment, which is just one line in a course characterized by jumps and cheats. It fell to Ecarri in 2015. He is a member of Copei. The national leadership announced the decision in a statement with a solemn tone and consistent with the Christian social spirit. He assumes the ethical values of loyalty and commitment. He discovered that the dissident leader was secretly active in another party, Alianza del Lápiz, a platform he founded in 2010 with the declared purpose of promoting the meeting of independent organizations, but from which he proselytized in places in western Caracas and, by accident. , he distanced himself from the green guidelines.
It must be said that, in some of its paragraphs, Copeyano’s part is not very subtle. In the announcement he accused Ecarri of being “involved in a shameful conflict of interest, of showing instability and of leaving a path of conflict with the parties through which he passed.” Ecarri’s defense focused on the blame for usurping his leadership in the municipalities where he worked. https://noticias24carabobo.com/copei-saca-filas-antonio-ecarri-descarga-bigamia/
He came to Copei in 2014, from Proyecto Venezuela, that party that was born in 1998 in Carabobo – the state where he was born – by Henrique Salas Romer as a split, precisely, from Copei, and which he joined in 2012. In 2015 he was the president of the copeyana tent in Caracas and was elected as a deputy candidate in the parliamentary elections that year. The honeymoon with the Copeyanos ended with the revelation of “infidelity.”
