Orlando Arcia broke a tie with an infield single in the eighth and the Atlanta Braves rallied again to beat the Washington Nationals 3-2 on Friday night.
The Braves were behind 2–1, but a two-run double against Kyle Finnegan (3–3) turned the score around – one earned. Thus, he registered his sixth victory.
The win came after the New York Mets overcame a deficit of at least three runs in each of the three games in the series.
Sean Murphy led off the eighth inning with a single on the leg of Finnegan. Pinch runner Sam Hillard moved to third on a single by Eddie Rosario, who moved to second on a fielding error by right fielder Len Thomas.
Marcell Ozuna drove in Hilliard with a groundout to first base. Dominic Smith tosses the ball a few times while trying to throw it home.
Arcadia’s ground ball also didn’t get any good control from shortstop CJ Abrams. A hit was made, and Rosario scored the difference.
Kirby Yates (2-0) pitched the eighth inning in perfect form and Raicel Iglesias finished the game for nine saves.
For the Nationals, Mexican Joey Meneses 4-1 with an RBI. Dominican Jammer Candelario 3-0. Venezuela Keibert Ruiz 3-0, Ildemaro Vargas 1-0.
For the Braves, Ronald Acuna of Venezuela 4-0, Arcia 4-1 with two RBI. Puerto Rican Rosario scored a run to win 4–2. Dominican Ozuna 3-1 with an RBI.
