The next game from FromSoftware will be Armored Core 6: Fire of the Rubicon. The title was presented at the last The Game Awards Gala and will arrive this year. It anticipates a restart in the saga’s narrative, but it maintains some unique features, such as great customization options.
But what’s most striking is that it won’t have an open world to explore like the studio’s previous works.
Armored Corps 6: Rubicon’s Fire ditches the open world because it doesn’t fit well with its approach
This has been confirmed by the company itself recently. Notably, it was director Masari Yamamura who, in an interview with Ruliweb, explained this decision to make Armored Corps 6: Rubicon’s Fire away from the formula that led the studio to success.
When we were developing the sequel, there was some discussion about how to turn it into a different genre of drama. However, after much discussion, we decided that we did not want to make a title focused on movement and exploration like the Elder Ring or Dark Souls series.
The Armored Corps saga is all about how you combine your character’s moves and how that affects your gameplay, because that’s what makes the series so compelling. It’s designed to make you think about how fast you can move through jumps and boosters, and the combination of those parts will determine how high you can reach and how fast you can go. Can
In that sense, we felt that the exploration aspect didn’t mesh well with Armored Core’s gameplay. This has led us to conclude that Armored Corps 6 will be a mission-based experience.
This decision does not mean that in every mission we have open spaces where we can enjoy the activities of our system. Some have also been confirmed by Massari, who confirms that the levels are quite large.
You’ll still find the same style of dynamic movement around a three-dimensional map with various elevation changes. We hope you enjoy the look. I think you will find a different kind of pleasure in watching and exploring every nook and cranny of a well-crafted map.
