In his visit to MD on the occasion of his retirement from football, Bojan Krkic reviews his adventures in three continents (Europe, America and Asia), seven countries (Spain, Italy, England, Germany, Netherlands, Canada/United. Japan) and nine clubs (Barça , Roma, Milan, Stoke, Mainz, Ajax, Alavés, Royal Impact and Vissel Kobe).
1
Italy: Rome and Milan
“Start of studies in Serie A”
At Italian football, the first stop after leaving Barça, he recalls “I enjoyed the Serie A in Italy, although at the same time it was like the opposite of everything he had experienced before with Barça and in the League. When he arrived in Italy, with a different type of game and other concepts, my process of adapting he started to change a bit, as I think the beginning of learning to adapt to new teams, mentalities and hobbies. Rome and Milan are two fantastic clubs in which I am proud to have been part of their history.”

England: Stoke
“At the top is where I enjoy the most.”
Bojan speaks passionately about the English youth: “The Premier League is where I have used the most, where I have understood the essence of football the most. It is probably my second home because of the fact that we live with Stoke fans, we live incredible games. At that moment I broke my knee and it was a nice challenge because I knew how I suffered and recovered well. I returned to play, enjoy, scoring goals… Stoke is a part of my heart with a space not as big as Barça, but probably bigger than other clubs”.

Germany: Mainz
“It was important that they celebrate eternity”;
He remembers the experience of the move from Germany: “A short process, but intense. With Mainz I experienced for the first time the situation of fighting not to lose the race and the celebration equal to the title. I remember months of pain. I was fighting in the zone below, it was difficult for me to adapt the 4-4-2 system with the counters the game with attacking patterns, despite playing and doing very well. It was a safety in the field of Bayern; it drew 2 -2 and scored a goal that also earned me to be in four of the five major leagues and in the celebration I felt something very special.”
4
Netherlands: Ajax
“I recently went to the Eredivisie”;
In Belgium, he left Ajax with an inside note: “I always felt that I was late for the Eredivisie, because I think that it is the best and very young league in which football has been played at its best with history. The clubs that attracted me a lot, Ajax was a source of great pride, from I wanted to know the inner part, but I have already walked in professional football for six years. We won leagues and played in the Champions League. I also suffered a lot of injury and learned a lot. It was a matter of honor for Ajax.”

Clinical: Royal Impact
“Great Discovery”
He came to the MLS in the United States to play for the Canadian club, Montreal Impact, coached by his former Barça teammates, Theodoric Henrico: “I found a great discovery in the city of Montreal like the best. He is in, the League is in constant growth, which competes better and better, with the freedoms that are getting stronger, the next World Cup in the US Organization, American life… Although I had limitations and restrictions. because of the pandemic, I have very positive memories”.
6
Japan: Vissel Kobe
“His worship changed my opinion”
He ended up in Japan, a life experience that marked him: “It was where I really appreciated being in three different continents. Japan is another world, I realized the journey I made with personal experiences. On a personal level. It was a year and a half with three major injuries Vissel Kobe’s discovery a competitive league and a culture in which you learn new things every day, with ideas that I still lean on to this day, that changed my opinion and that affected me. The way I act and visualize things, I established a link that will connect me with them for many years. I am very happy with them meet”.
