ASEAN Tourism Forum 2022 held in Sihanoukville, Cambodia

Sihanoukville, Cambodia is hosting the 40th ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) from 16 to 22 January 2022 at Sokha Beach Resort.

ATF 2022 will be organized under the theme “ASEAN – Community of Peace and Shared Future”. Sokha Beach Resort in Sihanoukville is the largest meeting place in the city. A seaside port city to the south, Sihanoukville has been designated by the state as a Special Multi-Purpose Economic Zone as part of its larger economic expansion and diversified development.

Expected to welcome 350 delegates from 27 countries and territories, ATF 2022 will be held in a secure physical format. All attendees will be reminded to wear their masks, and observe safe distancing. All frequent touch points at the venue will have to undergo regular sanitisation and disinfection and 3 do’s and 3 don’ts protocols.

Attendees include tourism leaders and executives, international buyers, exhibitors, the media as well as business visitors and avid travellers from the tourism industry.

Official ASEAN NTO meetings to develop work programs aimed at promoting ASEAN tourism recovery and a more resilient future, tourism ministerial meetings and associations meetings will take place from 16 to 20 January 2022 while TRAVEX will be held from 19 to 20 January 2022 . This will be followed by subsequent ATF tours on 21 and 22 January 2022.

On 15 November 2021, Cambodia was reopened to fully vaccinated international travelers as part of a Safe and Clean Tourism Campaign, a welcome step towards the recovery and sustainability of tourism in the ASEAN region and beyond.

According to data from Cambodia’s Ministry of Health, more than 90 percent of Cambodia’s 16 million population has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by 10 January 2022.

“On behalf of the Ministry of Tourism, Cambodia, it is my honor to officially announce that Cambodia is ready to host the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2022 (ATF 2022) in Sihanoukville. This coastal city is the hub of trade, commerce and tourism. It has become a major international and national centre.It is one of the most culturally diverse and dynamic population centers in Cambodia.

Since the health of travelers is our biggest concern, we plan to safely rebuild the tourism sector through stringent hygiene safeguards to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to reassure our community. His Excellency Dr. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, Royal Government of Cambodia.

The ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) is a cooperative regional effort to promote the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as a tourism destination. The annual event includes all tourism industry sectors from the 10 ASEAN member states: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

ATF was established in 1981. Each year, the hosting of the ATF is rotated between member states, and 2022 marks the 40th anniversary of the event.
