KANSAS CITY, MO.- Asset Management Technology has emerged as the Top Trending Technology for 2022 as identified by US Public Works Professionals.
The American Public Works Association (APWA) compiled 1,000 votes from public works sector professionals internationally, compiling its Top Five Trending Technologies for 2022, a recently released release said.
APWA said that good asset management with integrated data collection leads to increased planning and tracking, increased efficiency and reduced costs.
Others in the top five include:
I Geographic Information System (GIS). APWA said that GIS continues to show as a top trending technology, with the potential to intersect with other trending technologies, allowing mapping, spatial functionality and asset management.
I Smart technologies identify and interconnect public assets, manage data to improve efficiency, increase security and enable cost savings.
I Intelligent transportation system. Active intersections, managed lanes and alternate route management are some of the strategies that are now being used to facilitate traffic flow. The use of ITS to monitor the traffic reduces the frustration of the commuters by reducing the travel time.
I Fleet electrification. Climate protection and cost savings lead to fleet electrification. Lower maintenance costs are expected as EV fleets become more common.
