(CNN Spanish) — Ecuador’s National Risk and Emergency Management Service said at least five people were killed and 16 injured in an explosion in Guayaquil’s Cristo del Consuelo on Sunday.

Guayaquil firefighters participated in the emergency, and it is still officially unknown what elements were used for the attack.
However, hours after the incident, Interior Minister Patricio Carrillo said on his Twitter account that it may have been an explosives attack.

In a news conference on Sunday afternoon, the governor of Guayas province, Lorenzo Calvas, dismissed “acts of terrorism”. A bounty of US$10,000 was also known, with which the Interior Ministry wants concrete information about what happened.
