hear the news

Test captain Pat Cummins will miss Australia’s limited-overs series against Zimbabwe and New Zealand next month in preparation for the T20 World Cup. Australia are scheduled to play three One Day Internationals (ODIs) against Zimbabwe in Townsville on August 28 and 30 and September 3, followed by a three-match ODI series against New Zealand in Cairns on September 6, 8 and 11.

Fast bowler Sean Abbott and spinners Ashton Agar and Adam Zampa have returned to the Aaron Finch-led side. Australia’s tour of Sri Lanka ended last week with the visiting team winning the T20I series and the hosts winning the ODI series.

The Test series between the two teams was tied at 1-1. Middle-order batsman Travis Head will miss these series due to the birth of his first child with his partner Jess. Australia will host the T×20 World Cup, the first round of which begins on October 16. Defending champions Australia’s first match of the tournament is against New Zealand on 22 October.
