Australia maintains the countries’ No. 1 ranking and reigning Tennis World Cup champions Switzerland have climbed to second. Billie Jean King Cup runner-up for Gainbridge 2022 Alicia Molik’s team remains No. 1 in the Nations Ranking.
Switzerland has climbed to No. 2, the best team ranking in Women’s Tennis World Cup history. The Billie Jean King Cup Nations rankings are published weeks after the competition and reflect the teams’ performance over the past four seasons.
Switzerland, captained by Heinz Guenthardt, runner-up in the Cup in 2021 and champions in 2022, is not ranked number one as Australia’s performance for much of the season keeps it at number one.
Australia, the runner-up in 2019, has been the highest-ranked country since 2021. As finalists in 2022, Australia and Switzerland have gained direct berths in the 2023 finals. Switzerland are the top seeds thanks to their win in Glasgow.
