Australian Federal Police officers seized over 800 kilos in the last few hours cocaineWorth about $200 million, hidden on a ship from Argentina. It is a cargo ship named “St. Pinot”, which passed through the ports of San Lorenzo in Santa Fe and La Plata, before being stopped in the Australian city of Perth.
Meanwhile, the Argentine Customs and Narcocriminal Prosecutor’s Office (Procuenor) initiated an Investigation Joint to confirm where the drug was loaded. At the request of prosecutor Diego Iglesias, a relay of security cameras was carried out at the ports through which the ship passed to try to establish the moment in which cocaine was brought aboard the ship.
The discovery came after Australian authorities received an emergency call from a small boat, “No Fix Address”, which was sailing near the “St Pinot”, which aroused the suspicion of the police. And when the security forces reached the freighter, they found packets of medicine
According to monitoring done by the Vessel Tracker site, the “Saint Pinot” left San Lorenzo on 9 April and passed La Plata eleven days later. The crew of the small boat were arrested because – apart from showing little skill in handling it – they had bought it the day before in cash, another suspicious fact for the police.
If convicted, the three men face life sentences under Australian law.
