Police are investigating a string of thefts that occurred overnight and on Sunday morning in the Los Angeles Westside.
Around 9 p.m. Saturday night, Los Angeles police responded to a house on the 12900 block of Chalon Road in Mandeville Canyon to a report of the progress of a burglary. When the police reached the spot at the house in the prosperous neighbourhood, the thief had already fled the area.
Police say that the thief escaped from the spot on foot on the fire access road with an undeclared quantity of jewelry from the house.
Then about two hours later, police got another call about a burglary at a home in Beverly Crest. Officers responded 200 blocks of Delfern Drive to a house that is said to have previously been the home of a prominent YouTube personality. The house was vacant and the previous tenant had moved out recently, police and neighbors confirmed.
Officers continued to investigate both the theft and the break-in on Sunday morning when they received a call about another theft in a gated community in Brentwood.
Around 6:50 a.m., officers headed to a house on the 11000 block of West Olympic Boulevard after receiving reports that a burglar was currently inside the house.
Police reached the spot and took one person into custody. It is not clear at this time whether the person was arrested or whether they were linked to the theft the previous evening.
The thefts all took place in neighborhoods with wealthy residents, including millionaires and celebrities, although it is not clear whether any specific ones were targeted in the crimes.
