The ‘trap’ of lowering personal income tax to lower entitlement taxes
This Wednesday, the Executive of the region announced its intention to renew the plan to promote the “birth and motherhood” of the region, already promised by Isabel Díaz Ayuso, in 2022 in her investiture speech at the Madrid Assembly. Then he explained that the aid for pregnant women will be given to women under 30 years old who will receive up to 14,500 euros: 500 euros per month from the fifth month of pregnancy until the child turns two years old.
The requirements to access this assistance must be registered for at least ten years with an income of 30,000 euros. A year ago, the president of the region corrected and shortened the registration years to five in the face of criticism received because this ten-year requirement excluded thousands of women living in the region.

Personal income tax deflation
On the other hand, the Minister of Economy, Finance and Employment, Rocío Albert, reported in the same press conference that the regional government returned for the second consecutive year to deflate the personal income tax “with the aim of this new tax cut will help families. in the face of rising inflation and did not find themselves in time to make the next declaration “in a tax bracket higher than to which they are entitled.” The move, he said, will save 3.5 million Madrid taxpayers 153 million euros.
This step is a commitment that Ayuso included in the electoral program of the PP in Madrid “from which taxpayers will continue to benefit as long as inflation is above 2%,” recalled the Minister of Economy and Finance. The percentage at which the deflation will be conducted will be 3.1%, which corresponds to the average increase in the CPI in the first eight months of this year 2023, he said further.
