Barbie Star Margot Robbie almost got a leading role in American Horror Story.
Since its premiere in 2011, the hit anthology series by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk has dominated entertainment with its unique horror stories, dynamic characters, and hilariously wacky moments.
One entry that remains popular with fans, however, is American Horror Story: Asylum, the second season of the show.
The series, which spans from 1964 to the present, follows the staff and inmates of the fictional mental institution, Briarcliff Manor.
From Nurse Jude (Jessica Lange) demonstrating “The Name Game” to Lana Winters (Sarah Paulson) yelling her famous line, “Help the killer escapes.” asylum was full of iconic moments that helped American Horror Story the pop culture it is today.
However, the season’s main cast included almost one of Hollywood’s biggest stars.
In a recent interview in Inside the cover: the actor’s podcastThis was revealed by the series’ casting director Eric Dawson birds of prey Star Robbie auditioned Asylum.
“Margot has many it factors. “That’s the hard part for casting directors who aren’t in the room with the actors anymore,” he explained.
“Margot is probably one of my favorite auditions of all time, and it was just before she blew up. She was a big star. It was crazy how he walked into the room as a star.
Dawson later admitted that Robbie didn’t get the part because he was outside of the show’s “casting possibilities.”
“Even though she didn’t get the part, it was one of those things where, as a casting director, you’re like, ‘This is a star, what are we going to do with her?'” he said.
“But that’s really the fun part of casting: seeing the people whose careers are on the rise.”
Though Robbie didn’t get the part in Asylum, he is American Horror Story The franchise has produced a variety of superstar talent including Matt Bomer, Angela Bassett and Kathy Bates.
