Black fungus: ‘Antibiotics, steroids and more steam’, a combination of these three is dangerous? Experts warn

The threat of Black fungus is on the rise in the country amid the effects of the second wave of Corona virus. Many cases of Black fungus are being reported in different parts of the country. Which is raising the concern of the government. In the meantime, a study on black fungus has been conducted, according to which there are some things that are common in covid patients, which give an understanding about the spread of black fungus.

The study was performed on 210 patients. All were given antibiotics (azithromycin, doxycycline and carbapenems). After this, these people have become victims of Black fungus.

Dr. V.P Pandey of Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital, Madhya Pradesh. Pandey wrote the study, which claimed that only 14% of patients who received steroids used the black fungus. While the health ministry has said that steroids are the main cause behind the black fungus. There are currently more than 9,000 cases of black fungus reported in India, with about a dozen states declaring it a corona-like epidemic.

The higher the number of males in patients, the greater the concern over mortality

According to a study, the mortality rate in patients with black fungus is up to 30 percent. However, the mortality rate is slightly lower than before. Among the victims of black fungus, 78. 78% are men, while 41% are people who have recovered.

Patients with diabetes are said to have a higher risk of black fungus, but only 21 percent of the patients in the study were. Who had no symptoms of diabetes. However, many patients had some other problems starting with diabetes.

Another thing that has been found in patients with black fungus is that taking too much steam can be harmful to any patient. Former head of IMA’s Kochi branch Dr Rajiv Jayawardene has been warned about this. “The body has a layer that protects us from certain types of bacteria, but too much steam can damage it,” he said.

In the second wave of corona, cases of black fungus have increased rapidly, now this is two and a half times faster than in September-October last year. Experts say that the use of zinc is also dangerous, the presence of zinc and iron in the body helps in the spread of black fungus.
