Bloom 2022: Everything you need to know about this year’s flower festival

Ireland’s biggest gardening festival Bloom is about to arrive and it is back with a bang after being held for the past two years due to the pandemic.

The outdoor festival, now in its 16th year, will take place from June 2-6 at Phoenix Park in Dublin and we have all the information you need to know.

The annual festival organized by Board Biya is not every garden enthusiast’s dream day, it is a fun day that can be enjoyed by all as there is an abundance of food, drinks and activities that can be enjoyed.

Where did this happen?

The festival is held at Phoenix Park in Dublin.

What date and time?

It takes place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day between Thursday, June 2 and Monday, June 6.

How can I buy tickets?

Tickets can be purchased on Ticketmaster here. It’s €25 for an adult day ticket and two children under 16 can visit for free per adult.

Is there car parking?

Yes, there are two car parks on site. The Green Car Park serves M50 traffic from Castleknock, White Gate and all other Phoenix Park entry points and the Red Car Park serves Cabra, NCH and Main Gate city traffic.

A car parking ticket is €5 and they can also be purchased online.

What to do while you’re there – The Show Garden

Of course, Bloom’s highlight is the Show Garden, showcasing work by Ireland’s top garden designers.

The festival has three different types of show gardens – small, medium and large. The 2022 festival aims to celebrate the role of outer space in promoting positive mental and physical health.

It will also demonstrate the importance of living more sustainably and protecting biodiversity.

The two large gardens are the Green Cities Europe Garden, designed by James Purdy, and Hit Paws, the Caragh Nursery Garden, designed by Andrew Christopher Dunne.

There will also be a super garden on that day, the details of which are yet to be announced.

Postcard Gardens, which are just 2m x 3m, are gardens designed by charities, schools and community groups across the country.

Those who were lucky enough to be selected to design their own garden at this festival showcased many creative ideas.

These include Ard Scholl La Salle in Raheney’s sustainable ‘Bug Hotel’ Gardens and the Dublin Samaritan Forest of Hope.

Food & Beverage

There are a few different options for dining for both breakfast and lunch, including Bloom’s Bistro, Seafood Terrace, Garden Restaurant, and Phoenix Café.

The festival will also feature 80 food producers including Glenisch Yogurt, Rye River Brewing Beer and Fegheri Farms Beetroot Juice.

Activities and Events

For budding cooks, Neven Maguire is holding a workshop on Saturdays and Sundays to create some simple and fun recipes for kids ages eight to 14.

There will also be several other family-friendly events, including Paddy Courtney’s Buzz About Bees and Scientific Sue’s Science of Bubbles show.

If you are a foodie, then Quality Kitchen Stage is the right place for you.

The five-day event will have 24 cooking demonstrations and ear to the ground Presenter Helen Carroll will be available to interview all the cooks.

Chefs include Rory O’Connell, Catherine Fulvio, Fiona Uyema, Edward Hayden, Gary O’Hallon, Shane Smith, Mark Moriarty, Brian McDermott and JP McMahon.


For shopaholics, there are plenty of opportunities to pick up some new bits at the festival.

The Irish Craft Village will showcase the best of Ireland’s handcrafted talent, while you can create your own show garden by picking up some fresh flowers at the Q-Mark Plant Village.

The Grand Pavilion will also have 160 exhibitors, which include Diamond Furnite, Curry Electrical and Gardenia.
