“Just as they demonstrated that time in the town hall and planned to organize a coup, again, brothers, they are the same, but in our city in 2020 there has been an awakening of conscience. Make no mistake, ” The Vice President said.
Before the auditorium where the leader of the Movement to Socialism-Political Instrument for the Sovereignty of the People (MAS-IPSP), Evo Morales, legislator of the majority and leaders of social organizations, Chochuanca thanked the support of the popular forces.
He recalled that the transformation process faced a violent halt with the 2019 coup, but was reinstated in the 2020 elections with the support of 55 percent of the electorate.
Referring to crimes such as the massacres of Sakaba and Senkata, he recalled, “We have lived a year of sadness, uncertainty, weeping, mourning, despair, torture, extrajudicial executions, human rights violations, political persecution and imprisonment.”
He reiterated that a realignment of authority with coup d’état is a reality, as evidenced by the September 30 town hall led by powerful groups in Santa Cruz.
In the face of these undemocratic plans, the Vice President called for unity of the people to protect not only democracy but natural resources like lithium.
As he said, in the year of the breakdown of the constitutional order, the de facto government began the process of “privatization” of these reserves, but was stopped by the government of Luis Arce.
“They want to split us up to steal our lithium,” he said, adding that the mineral would bring Bolivia $30 billion in revenue, which is 10 times more than what would be generated from gas sales.
“If we unite, we all win,” concluded Chochuanca.
