‘Boundless Crisis:’ Florida sues Biden administration for release of illegal immigrants

The repeated release of illegal immigrants by the Biden administration has created a legal challenge from the state of Florida.

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, a Republican, has sued the federal government over its “arrest and release” policy, which has resulted in the release of 225,000 illegal immigrants this year.

The case primarily raises concerns about the treatment of asylum-seeking immigrants, which is approved in cases where the authorities rule that they have a legitimate fear of persecution for race, religion or various other reasons.

Federal law requires the government to detain asylum seekers until the authorities rule on their case. But under President Joe Biden, it has so far released at least 225,000 illegal immigrants, including asylum seekers, according to Customs and Border Protection.

“A two-page lawsuit filed in federal court in Pensacola,” the release of these many incoming aliens internally means that the government is violating congressional orders under immigration law. “

“We are seeing dramatic effects on our borders. This is an indefinite crisis based on the president’s refusal to follow federal law. It is among blacks, and it is not the president’s responsibility to decide whether it agrees with the law. In fact, the head of an executive branch must follow the law, ”Moody told reporters during a briefing in Lee County.

Officials say Florida has been negatively impacted by the high cost of catching illegal immigrants.

The Florida court has been asked to find the Biden administration’s “catch-and-release” policy invalid and has asked opponents to stop enforcing the policy in line with the requirements set out in federal law.

The Biden administration did not respond to a request for comment.

Officials have defended the widespread release of illegal immigrants, claiming that the law is being followed because they are being given notice to appear in court or at the immigration office.

“We are in touch with them. We monitor them to make sure they appear in court at the time they appear, ”Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorcas told reporters in Washington last week after the administration released more than 12,000 illegal immigrants clustered in Del Rio, Texas.

Florida officials say the Biden administration’s policies are designed to increase the number of immigrants, and illegal immigration has skyrocketed since Democrats came to power.

Todd Bensman, a senior national security fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies, said the Biden administration was avoiding what the previous administration had done, only releasing illegal immigrants when detention facilities were full.

One way the administration is doing this is by using its parole power, which was designed to be used in a small number of cases and only for “urgent humanitarian or significant public interest”.

“The policy of freeing immigrants on parole in the country is broad, broad and historic,” Bensman told The Epoch Times.

The new case asks the judge to restrain the Biden administration from paroleing immigrants without case-by-case review.

Also Tuesday, Florida Gov. Ron de Santis, a Republican, announced an executive order barring all Florida agencies under him from facilitating illegal immigration and requiring state officials to collect information about the costs and opportunities of illegal immigration in the state.

“Since President Biden took office – less than a year ago – Border Patrol has released about a quarter of a million illegal aliens to the United States,” Desantis said in a statement. “This executive order makes it clear that Florida resources will not be used to advance the failed open border agenda formulated by this administration.”
