Our “bread”, the one that comes from the warehouse and is sold through the supply book, is so “disappeared”, that its production is paralyzed in many provinces due to the lack of flour. That, for example, happened in Matanzas, in the west of the island.
From the territorial government, they informed us that the provincial food company, in its Facebook account, reported that the population of Matanzas is affected these days due to the lack of bread sales in the warehouse.
Iván Castro, director of that entity, explained that the impact occurred due to the delay in the arrival of flour to the province, but based on the efforts made by the Food Company of Matanzas and according to the availability of flour in the territory, starting today, November 18, they must “improve things.”
“Starting this Saturday, November 18, the production of 80-gram bread will be restored for the population on a stable basis. Due to the need for this food, the entity apologizes for the inconvenience caused,” they said in the first part.
Lack of flour and bread in Cuba
Then they corrected and conditioned the stable production of bread in the factory “according to the availability of flour in the territory.” However, they acknowledged that until now, the production of 80-gram bread for the population has been paralyzed.
This situation is not only for Matanzas, because many Cuban provinces, such as Villa Clara or the east of the island, report a lack or paralysis of this production. But the population has doubts about why individuals save their food to sell and have flour. Who is inefficient here?
“Ask individuals where they can get flour because for them there is always”, “It is like never before; the special season is very little,” or “Many people, especially the elderly, do not have “I have money to buy bread from the streets. Every day, this situation makes me more ashamed and helpless,” are some of the reactions in this section.
