Bruins return home, beat Hurricanes 5-2 to win 7th game

BOSTON ( Associated Press) — Brad Marchand scored one goal and assisted on another, and Jeremy Swimman blocked 23 shots to lead the Boston Bruins in a 5-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday night and their first-round playoff. sent the series into a decisive seventh game.

The home team has won all six games in the series so far – an edge for Carolina, who will host Game 7 on Saturday. The winner will play the Penguins or Rangers in the Eastern Conference semifinals; Pittsburgh leads that series 3-2 in Game 6 on Friday night.

Marchand broke a scoreless tie at 46 seconds in the second period, taking a long cross-ice pass from Conor Clifton and skating in the right circle before wristing Ranta’s glove.

Coyle gave the Bruins a 2-0 lead in the final two minutes of the period, hitting a trickling rebound off David Pasternak’s one-timer. Svechnikov made it a one-goal game at the start of the third, before Houla and Forbort gave Boston his throne back.

Svechnikov’s second goal came with 2:30 remaining to spear Marchand during a power play for a double minor.

In a career spanning 18 years, with Boston, Bergeron scored 400 goals with 582 assists and won the Selke Award as best two-way forward four times. He won the Stanley Cup in 2011 and went to the finals twice.

The 36-year-old Canadian is unsigned for next season.
