Ever since the HYBE label announced that they would be releasing merchandise and other products designed by seven BTS members, it was more than clear that sales would skyrocket. However, no one expected that the collection created by the artist would sell out within a second.
On January 11, BTS member V’s (Kim Taehyung) Mute Boston Bag was launched, but according to social media, the bag sold out in less than five seconds. Even more shocking was how quickly sold-out bags were being advertised on resale sites at exorbitantly inflated rates.
It’s not something we’ll be monitoring but well done V < 3

Many ARMYs (known as ARMYs to BTS fans) took to Twitter to express their dismay and also highlighted the unethical practice of reselling sought-after products by people who are not part of the fandom. . Many fans are demanding the artist-made collection be restored and action taken against predatory resellers.
Earlier this month, a pajama set and pillows designed by Kim Seokjin and joggers and windchimes designed by Kim Namjoon sold out in minutes, only to make a reappearance on eBay. Min Yongi’s necklace and notepad had a similar fate when it flew off the shelf in a minute.

HYBE needs to crack down on resellers. People are buying on Weverse just to drive up the price on ebay or mercari! Mute bags already listed for $1k+! This is seriously messed up!

The quick sales of merchandise have only cemented BTS’ reputation as one of the biggest acts in the music industry. The accessories, designed by Jung Hosok, Park Jimin and Jeon Jungkook, are yet to be released later this month.
