The Butte College baseball team began its season on Thursday with a 10-4 home win against Yuba City.
The Roadrunners’ offense started early, scoring four runs in the first innings and two in the third. Peter Andrews hit a single home run in left field with a dismissal at the bottom of the first innings, a batsman after hitting a sacrificial fly to centerfield by Seth Nelson.
Andrews finished the game 2-for-3 with three RBIs, a pair of walks and steals a base, and centerfielder Daniel Daniels went 3-for-4 with a double.
Pitcher John Barry started the game on the mound for Butte and allowed two hits and two earned runs through five innings. Barry dismissed seven batsmen and scored two runs in his first win of the season. Kyle Kucich allowed the remainder of the game five hits and two runs (one earned) through four innings. Kuchich scored four runs in his first save of the season.
Butte (1-0) plays Yuba City at 1 p.m. Friday before traveling to Yuba City on Sunday for the final game of the three-match series.

Chico High 60, Foothill 52: Chico High defeated Foothill at home Thursday night.
Talisha Wilkerson and Campbell Wieg had 15 points each for Chico High, and Sophie Sims had 11.
The Sims had seven rebounds and six steals. Wieg assisted with seven and made four steals on defense.
Chico High (15-7, 4-2 Eastern Athletic League) will play against Red Bluff at home at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Pleasant Valley 76, Shasta 46: Sukh Ghati defeated Shasta in Redding on Thursday.
PV’s attack got off to a quick start, going 25-10 after the first quarter and 45-21 at halftime.
AJ Gambol led PV in the scoring with 21 points, including three third-quarter 3-pointers. Kaitlyn Vickery scored 14 points, and Maddox Wilson and Nya Fortune had 12 points each.
PV (15-7, 5-0 EAL) will play Enterprise at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
