California driver hits three people in Christmas parade

In California, he was arrested after hitting three people while driving his van to retreat moments before a Christmas parade on Thursday night.

A van Ford F-150 hit pedestrians around 5:30 p.m. along the route on the parade in the center of Bakersfield, said the Police Department of Bakersfield.

“The BPD is conducting investigations at H St. and 21st St., affecting the Route Original del Parade. The Parade Marshal is working to see if the route on the parade is an option,” the department published in X.

The police arrested a 72-year-old witness to driving a white Ford van, according to Bakersfield Now.

Her name on the witness list has not yet been announced.

Authorities said they are investigating the alcohol in addition to the media.

The three people, ages 21, 42, and 77, were taken to a local hospital and are in stable condition.
