On Wednesday, Oct.13, a 41-year-old man bicycled a 12-year-old student on his way to school in Corona before taking off his clothes and making obscene comments, the Crown Police Department said.
The attack occurred while the girl was on her way to the Cesar Chavez Academy, School K-8 on Paseo Grande, 1150. A message sent by the school’s parents says the student quickly moved to safety.
Police detective Daniel Clary said that Corona’s Carlos Martinez hit and knocked the girl down, stripped naked and then made sexual comments to the girl. The girl ran to the school bus while passers-by stopped the police. According to Clary, Martinez was arrested after a brief fight with the police.
“The offender was seen without clothes on a bicycle. When our school buses (sic) arrived, this man was driving right in front of our students, ”the school’s address to parents says.
According to Clary, Martinez was detained in the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of attempted rape of a minor and assault with deadly weapons. The deposit was set at $ 50,000.
The school announcement says additional counselors have been brought to campus to assist students.
The Corona-Norco Unified School District was aware of the incident, but none of those entitled to speak to the media responded to a request for additional information on Wednesday.
